sustainable is a framework that integrating social, economy and environment, nowadays uk government came out a policy, by year 2016, all housing scheme has to reach zero carbon, which it is not possible at the moment, by referring to zero carbon, it means net carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas emission to biosphere where all energy used,and it has maximise the product use of carbon.
In Malaysia, there is also an index known as Geen Building Inddex (GBI) anyway not fully implemented by the government, which is only partially done by the NGO and professional bodies.
If zero carbon from building, so no more chimney is allowed in UK?? anyway, is that chimney still being used or only made as the decoration??
How about the gas supply into the kitchen which also emit the CO2??
It is good to have the policy rather than complaining without implementing any policy here.
