Media Interview During My Graduation Ceremony
My graduation ceremony for my Bachelor degree held in the morning on 05th October 2012, more than a year ago in Dewan Tuanku Chancellor, University of Malaya. The day is one of my proudest day in my life and I successfully shared the moment with my parent and my family. The graduation ceremony took approximately 2 hours and at the end of the ceremony, I was interviewed by media on my achievements. (Was interviewed by two media but at the end only published in one of them, there were photos taken but not published in the electronic version)

KUALA LUMPUR: “Dua benda saya sasar ketika diterima masuk UM (Universiti Malaya)....pertama tak nak bayar PTPTN (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional) dan kedua nak buat PhD (ijazah doktor falsafah) pada usia muda,” kata graduan terbaik Sarjana Muda Ukur Bangunan, Khoo Chee Keong, 23, ketika ditemui selepas Istiadat Konvokesyen UM 2012, di sini, semalam.
Chee Keong kini mampu tersenyum bangga apabila kedua-dua impiannya itu bakal menjadi kenyataan apabila mencatat keputusan cemerlang dengan memperoleh purata nilai gred kumulatif (PNGK) 3.81 dan ditawarkan biasiswa oleh UM untuk melanjutkan pengajian PhD serta dikecualikan bayaran balik PTPTN.
Lebih manis apabila dia turut merangkul tiga hadiah utama UM iaitu Hadiah Buku Universiti, Hadiah Profesor Emeritus Ezrin Arbi dan Hadiah ‘The Association Of Building Engineers (ABE), UK’.

Ditanya rahsia kejayaannya, Khoo berkata, cara belajarnya sama seperti orang lain tetapi perlu fokus dan belajar tanpa mengenal erti penat dan jemu.
Selain itu, dia yang mendapat jolokan ‘ulat buku’ di kalangan rakannya berkata, dia memperuntukkan setengah jam untuk mengulang kaji sebelum masuk kuliah serta tidak pernah ponteng kelas.
“Memandangkan bidang ini lebih banyak kepada kerja luar, saya perlu cepat menyesuaikan diri dengan keadaan setempat, kalau tidak akan ketinggalan.
“Selain itu, saya menjadikan semua pensyarah sebagai sumber inspirasi,” katanya menambah bakal memulakan program PhD pada Januari tahun depan.
Anak ketiga daripada lima beradik pasangan peniaga, Khoo Ban Cheong, 50, dan Ng Phaik Phaik, 50, itu berkata, seseorang pelajar juga perlu bijak memilih kawan bagi mengelak daripada ‘hanyut’.
